Aquatic Exercise Classes
Elderlink has an indoor swimming pool, maintained at 92 degrees, complete with entrance ramp and a submersible wheelchair for easy access. The aquatic exercise program, designed by the Arthritis Foundation, is for those who have chronic pain, impaired joint mobility or arthritis, or who are recovering from joint replacement surgery. The Parkinson's program is designed for those students with Parkinson's or other movement disorder who need help with balance and coordination. Support Groups In an effort to meet the emotional needs of families in our community, Redwood Elderlink, co-sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association, facilitates several support groups free of charge. Family and friends can come to discuss the challenges of caregiving, as well as share useful information and provide support to each other. Go to our Calendar of Events for a complete schedule of support groups and locations. Transportation Want to go shopping? Need a ride to the doctor? Sign up for the Out & About Shuttle. Elderlink operates a free shopping shuttle visiting the Vons shopping center nearest you and other destinations including Target, Henry's Marketplace and the North County Fair shopping mall. Free rides to non-emergency medical appointments for seniors and adults with disabilities are also available Monday through Thursday. Advance reservations are required. Speaker's Bureau Redwood Elderlink will provide professional staff to speak to your group or organization about a variety of eldercare issues. Educational Opportunities Dementia Education Class - Redwood Elderlink provides this basic information class on a quarterly basis. Learn about the changes in the brain, the corresponding behavior and how to handle everyday living with someone with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. 2005 classes are scheduled on January 6, April 7, July 7 and October 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Elderlink. |
